Return a process (+core) description by process Id. NB: a process is not necessary alive.

Thread safe

Gets events from and sets up the connection that is visible in the operateable part of the controller. Filters events from all connections and broadcasts only those related to the selected core.

If at least one connection is in the state "UNSUPPORTED" then we signal that we are under external control (which means that the profiler is operated by API).
